To our AMT members,
Season’s greetings, and warm wishes to your family from ours at AMT! As we approach the full height of the holiday season, I want to express our gratitude and appreciation to you, our members. This year has shown the importance of community and emphasized the key role our industry plays in our nation’s well-being. We are proud to stand among such resilient, adaptive, and enduring companies dedicated to manufacturing technology.
That dedication shined in the face of the pandemic and economic disruption. Each person in each company in our community stood up and got to work. You provided life-saving medical equipment and PPE, pivoted supply chains, kept businesses open and workforces employed, and got communities back to work. These innovative solutions illustrated the importance of maintaining a strong industrial base and the role that transformative technologies will play in the future of manufacturing.
In the 118 years since AMT’s founding, we have adapted to recessions, wars, and other global disruptions and now the second major pandemic in our history – much as each of you have had to pivot and adapt as well. From each of these events, we have developed new products and services, added new talent to our team, and reached out to collaborate with new partners to meet the needs of the industry. As this year’s challenges materialized, we pivoted and launched IMTS Network; held virtual events and webinars to ensure members had instant access to crucial economic relief content; provided field services through our global tech centers when travel was limited; released white papers on supply chains and digital manufacturing; and created the AMTNews.org hub to house and circulate white papers, current and breaking news, and other resources and information.
We stand ready to step away from 2020 stronger and eager to tackle the challenges of tomorrow. Our industry is not returning to business as usual. We’re growing and evolving at a rapid pace. More companies have begun investigating and implementing transformative technologies that will build a more resilient, more secure manufacturing economy. AMT is incredibly excited about the future and the possibilities that this development promises. Whatever comes, the manufacturing technology industry will be ready to lead the way. As leaders, AMT welcomes that responsibility, and we know you will too.
Happy holidays and happy tomorrows,
Douglas K. Woods President, AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology
